Tower of Hoptipleks - Level V

2012-2013

This is the playthrough of a videogame that was part of a group project.

Going for a fantasy-themed tower, we each had to design and create one level of the game.

 

Where others went for a treasure hunt aspect, or had more of a "avoid the traps" approach, I decided to deisgn the whole level as one big puzzle, as a single, massive enigma.

 

My level is actually two levels : it exists in both the past and the present. And that is the whole idea behind the gameplay I developped.

 

In the present, everything is broken, worn... Nothing works, not even the doors can be openned ! But in the past, every single piece of magical equipment is functionnal : the floating platforms, the pushable cubes, and... The traps.

 

So the player has to switch between the two times, between the two worlds, to advance through the level and reach the top of the tower.

And here you can see the research, influences, design tryouts, and final aesthetical choices made for the project.

 

These include deisgns for the gameplay, the environment, the props,

and of course, the main character.

 

 

Credits :

Every single visible aspect of the game was made by me. Be it aesthetical design, gameplay deisgn, character design, 3d modeling , texturing, rigging, animating, programming, and sound design.
